Frequently Asked Questions

How do I create a ride on InterPool? +
Open the app and tap the "+" button on the Schedule tab. Fill in your source, destination, date, time, and seat price. You can also enable recurring scheduling for daily commutes and set up a return trip simultaneously.
How do I join a ride? +
Go to the Search tab, enter your route and preferred time, and browse available rides. Tap "Request to Join" on any ride that suits you. The ride offerer will review your profile and accept or decline your request.
How does the payment ledger work? +
When a ride completes, the app automatically calculates the passenger's debt to the offerer based on the agreed seat price. You can view your net balance with each carpool buddy in the Payments tab. To settle up, log a cash or UPI payment manually. No digital transaction needed.
What is Institution Linking and why should I use it? +
Institution Linking lets you verify your affiliation with a specific college or organization. When you link your institution, offerers can restrict their rides to institution members only, creating a trusted, familiar community where you carpool with people you already know.
What is the League System? +
The League System gamifies your environmental impact. Every completed ride tracks the COβ‚‚ you helped save. As your cumulative savings grow, you rank up through three tiers: Spark, Kinetic, and Supernova. Milestone animations celebrate each promotion.
How do recurring rides work? +
When creating a ride, you can enable the "Recurring" option and select which days of the week your commute repeats (e.g., Mon–Fri). The app automatically creates ride instances for each selected day. Passengers can join all instances or individual ones. The ledger accumulates across all recurring rides.
How does the SOS feature work? +
The SOS button is available at all times within the app. Pressing it broadcasts your current GPS coordinates to your emergency contacts. We recommend setting up your contacts in the Account section before your first ride.
Can I cancel a ride after joining? +
Yes. You can cancel your join request or leave a ride before it starts from the ride detail screen. Once a ride has started (marked Active), you cannot leave it. Please respect other commuters by cancelling as early as possible.
Is InterPool available on iOS? +
Currently, InterPool is available on Android only via Google Play. An iOS version is on our roadmap. Stay tuned by following our updates.
Does InterPool support bike pools, or only cars? +
InterPool supports both car pools and bike pools. When registering your vehicle, you can select whether it is a car or a bike. Passengers searching for rides can filter by vehicle type, so they can specifically look for a bike pool on their route. Seat count, pricing, and safety preferences like female-only mode apply to bike pools just like cars.
My ride wasn't marked complete. What happens to the ledger? +
Don't worry! InterPool uses automated backend tasks that monitor ride schedules. If a ride's completion time passes and it hasn't been manually marked done, the system automatically transitions it to Completed and updates the ledger, even if no one opened the app.
